Cal To Open 2018 Season In Berkeley With 1 PM Home Game Against North Carolina

SAN FRANCISCO – Cal will host a pair of afternoon games at California Memorial Stadium over the first three weeks of the 2018 season with visits from North Carolina (Sept. 1, 1 p.m. PT) and Idaho State (Sept. 15, 3 p.m.). The Cal-North Carolina contest will be televised nationally by FOX, while Pac-12 Bay Area will air the Cal-Idaho State game.

The Golden Bears were a 35-30 winner in their first-ever meeting with the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill to open last season. Cal and Idaho State will be meeting for the first time ever.

Among a host of early television selections across the conference, the Pac-12 also announced that Cal’s road game at BYU on Sept. 8 will kick off at 8:15 p.m. MT/7:15 p.m. PT. The contest will be televised nationally by either ESPN2 or ESPNU with that determination to be made after games of Sept. 1.

All Cal football games will be televised again in 2018 with kickoff times and network television information for Cal’s remaining nine contests to be announced by the Pac-12 either 12 or six days in advance of each game. Fans can also listen to all Cal football games live on KGO 810 AM, the Cal Bears Sports Network powered by Learfield, Sirius XM Satellite Radio and via TuneIn.

In addition to North Carolina and Idaho State, Cal’s remaining home contests are against Pac-12 foes Oregon (Sept. 29), UCLA (Oct. 13), Washington (Oct. 27), Stanford (Nov. 17) and Colorado (Nov. 24).
Cal plays the first of four Pac-12 road games at Arizona (Oct. 6) before traveling to Oregon State (Oct. 20), Washington State (Nov. 3) and USC (Nov. 10).

All 12 of Cal’s regular-season games are scheduled on Saturdays.
