The San Jose State Spartans held a scrimmage today, or should I say the Zamore Zigler show. The sophomore running back put on a clinic while breaking a few ankles as well as scoring a pair of touchdowns. Head coach of the Spartans Brent Brennan said “ Zigs (Zigler) looked really good today and we liked what we are seeing from him”. There was no doubt the receivers and the QBs had great chemistry today. Junior wide receiver Jeremy Kelly and freshman wide receiver Antwuan Ayers both had a great scrimmage with multiple what looked to be impossible catches along with a touchdown from Kelly. The offense wasn’t the only side of the ball that showed up to play, the defense looked good but according to coach Brennan “ We are thin at some positions on defense but our guys are hustling out there.” Senior cornerback Andre Chachere picked off quarterback Michael Carrillo and when asked about that play Chachere said “I was just doing my job and playing my position”. There is no doubt that there are some playmakers in this new system coach Brennan is putting together but the Spartans definitely have their work cut out for them.
