Stanford celebrates after a big win over UCLA in front of the sold out Homecoming crowd

GetSportsFocus.com – One week after being upset by Utah, David Shaw’s team bounced back and showed toughness against No. 9 UCLA. Stanford won 24-10 on homecoming day, showing physical dominance on defense as well as in the ground game.
Tyler Gaffney carried the ball 36 times for 171 yards and two touchdowns to help No. 13 Stanford win it’s sixth-straight game vs UCLA. Kevin Hogan was efficient as usual, completing 18 of 25 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown. That 30-yard score was caught by Kodi Whitfield who made an amazing one-handed catch in the third quarter to give the Cardinal a 10-3 lead.
The Bruins came into this game averaging 45.8 points a game, led by Heisman candidate Brett Hundley who was held to only 37 pass yards in the first half. UCLA was also shut out in the first two quarters, down 3-0 at halftime. Hundley finally threw his lone touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to Shaquelle Evans but was picked off twice by Jordan Richards.
Stanford outscored UCLA 21-10 in the second half, improving their record to 6-1 (4-1 Pac-12). Devon Cajuste left with a right leg injury in the fourth quarter after catching 7 passes for 109 yards. The Cardinal heads to Oregon State next Saturday.
