The Stanford Cardinal kicked off their 2017 training camp this week and I asked Head coach David Shaw who can step up on the defensive line and replace Solomon Thomas and his leadership role. According to Shaw he really thinks Harrison Phillips is stepping up a lot and taking on that role. Along with Phillips other players are already standing out and Shaw says “It’s the guys we expected during camp and players like Love, Kalambayi, and Christ” and not to mention a secondary that according to David Shaw is “ As good as it gets”. Injuries are always a concern for any football team. I asked Coach Shaw how he makes practices safer and Shaw said “ Player safety is now a top priority” this is something Coach Shaw and his staff have been emphasizing for years and will be preaching for years to come.
