Marin Catholic too much for Novato

Posted October 9, 2012 by in

The Wildcats of Marin Catholic scored seven times on the road against Novato. Jared Goff threw 5 touch downs passes. Wildcats running back Akili Terry rushed for over 150 yards with two touch down runs.
Marin Catholic scored on the opening drive with Goff floating a ball for Colton Hanley to dive for in the end zone. The 33 yard toss was ran down by Hanley for the score that gave the Wildcats a 7-0 lead.
Defense showed up right away too for the visiting team, Anthony Giusti picked off the pass from the Hornets quarterback Robbie Cassee on Novato’s second offensive play. Marin Catholic took advantage of the opportunity right away giving the ball to running back Akili Terry for the second Wildcats touch down.
Novato plugged in their other QB Christian Bosley on the ensuing drive who hit Nate Barkus on the left side on the move. Barkus took the ball and rushed all the way to the goal line and dove in for the touchdown cutting the Wildcats lead to half.
But that was about all the Hornets got to give as Marin Catholic scored on every single offensive drive in the first half. Novato also turned the ball over three times in the first half alone.
Terry opened up the second quarter with his second touchdown of the game. Goff would then connect with Michael Devine for a 10 yard score and Andrew Celis for a twenty harder to give Marin Catholic a strong 35-7 lead at intermission.
The Wildcats picked up where they left off in the third with Goff airing it out and connecting with Celis once again, this time for a 52 yard touchdown. Goff threw his final TD late in the third with a beautiful toss to Danny Noonan. The 22 yard touchdown pass made it 49-7 and gave head coach Mazi Moayed the opportunity to plug in his second and third stringers.
When asked “What was working for you guys today?”, Goff, Terry and Celis had one common answer, “the line”.
With a 6-1 record overall and a 3-0 record in league following the win over Novato, the Wildcats are in sole possession of first place in the Marin County Athletic League. Next stop is Terra Linda.
