Valley Christian Defeats Milpitas in Comeback Fashion

Levi’s 2015 Friday Night Lights hosted some of the top teams in three matchups and they saved the best for last as WCAL’s Valley Christian faced the Milpitas Trojans. Both teams fought a hard battle, but in the end the Warriors left everything on the field and walked away with a 22-21 victory.

VC’s Morian Walker Jr. was the first to put points on the board with a 41-yard run to the end zone in the first quarter. That first possession took over six minutes off the clock and put the War Boys in a great position going into the second quarter. However, Milpitas would answer back with a 13-yard carry by Cros Chavez in the second. Chavez would have five carries for 53-yards in the first half.

Halftime must have energized the Trojans because their first play of the third was an 80-yard touchdown by Tariq Bracy to put them up 14-7. The ball would go to VC but a fumbled kickoff return would put it right back in the hands of Milpitas. The Trojans took advantage and Dejaun Crummie goes 20-yards for the TD, 21-7 Milpitas.

Here is where things got crazy. With only three minutes left in the game, Milpitas quarterback Oliver Svirsky tries to complete a pass to Shawndre Smith, but Valley’s Trent Laubach would come up with the interception and take it in for a 15-yard touchdown to put the Warriors within three points. Morian Walker Jr. would do the rest as he capitalized on his speed and completed a catch and run for 81-yards and a touchdown that would put Valley Christian up 22-21.
