GetSportsFocus.com – McDonald’s All-American Oderah Chidom is taking Bishop O’Dowd to the CIF State Girls Open Division Championship after defeating St. Mary’s 58-50.
The game was full of defense and backcourt contact with no calls. Some believe O’Dowd’s team at 28-3 could be the best Bay Area girls squad ever. The Dragons would be tested by St. Mary’s who are ranked 15th nationally, came into this game 31-2.
Chidom was unstoppable inside the paint, scoring 17 points while sophomore guard Asha Thomas scored 16 points.
St. Mary’s freshman Kat Tudor was a huge factor in the Rams offense, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc with 14 points in the game. St. Marys hung in there and played O’Dowd tougher than most opponents but the Dragons controlled the clock and came out with the win.
Bishop O’Dowd will face Windward (Los Angeles) who are ranked No. 2 nationally at 32-0. Windward defeated O’Dowd in the Oaks Christian Tournament 58-43 last December.
