Brandon Younger / Founder

Over the last decade, Brandon Younger has been an influential person in the football community. Throughout the country and Bay Area he has mentored, trained, and coached many student-athletes. He has developed his own training and 7 on 7 program Grindmode; where he trains athletes on a one-on-one level to improve their academic attitude and on-field performance.

In Grindmode, Younger has had the opportunity to work with student-athletes that are now at Division I universities, most notably Keelan Doss (UC Davis), Robert Taylor (Washington state university), and Camilo Eifler (University of Washington). Coach Younger is also involved with USA Football, which has provided him the opportunity to travel the country and coach with some of the top college coaches and high school athletes in the world. He has been with the company for 4 years and is currently the west coast regional camp director.

Coach Younger’s playing days started in Oakland, CA with the East Bay Warriors youth football program at the age of eleven. He then played high school football at Oakland Technical high school where he received all-league honors as a senior. Coach Younger then went on to attend the College of the Sequoias where he played two years and earned an athletic scholarship to Langston University. At Langston University Coach Younger help lead his team to its first Red River conference championship in eleven years.

Younger began his coaching career at Alameda high school, serving as varsity defensive backs coach for four years. In his first year at Oak Grove, Coach Younger, as the defensive backs coach led his unit to a Central Coast Section leading 18 interceptions, while being a part of a staff that won its first Central Coast Section title in eight years. In 2016, Younger’s unit finished with 12 interceptions and had three players receive all league honors.

Coach Younger’s coaching philosophy can be regarded as ‘player friendly’ with a strong disciplinary focus on academics, attendance, and attitude. “Get Grades, Make Plays” is a motto that he strongly enforces upon his athletes. The concept that if you get good grades and make plays on the field you can accomplish whatever you want resonates throughout whatever football forum Coach Younger is a part of
