The Silver Creek Raiders kept things close through one quarter, but broke away quickly after as the No. 2 seed beat the Los Altos Eagles 57-42 in the Central Coast Section Division I quarter finals on Saturday afternoon.

Los Altos kept the game within one point by the end of the first, but key turnovers and timely points gave Silver Creek a steady lead by halftime. The second half push was led by nine points and solid defense by freshman Leilani Augmon, as the 5-10 guard shut down several Eagles offensive attempts. The Raiders worked together to extend their lead to 37-21 after one half before heading to the locker room.

Eight different Raiders logged points for Silver Creek on Saturday afternoon, including 13 from junior guard Alexis Flores. Four players recorded double digits and coach Sonny Flores recognized the teamwork after the game, mentioning the pressure that the team was able to place on their opponents as well as several timely and well-executed plays. The Raiders were able to work well both at the rim as well as beyond the arc. Senior guard Madison Hotchkiss scored twelve points – all threes – and found teammates down low through traffic throughout the game.

Once halftime ended, it was all Raider basketball: Silver Creek allowed just seven points to the Eagles in the third quarter, and while Audrey Jones cut the lead in the fourth with two quick threes – she would finish with eleven points for Los Altos – the damage was done. Silver Creek would hold on to their comfortable lead and punch their ticket to the next round.

For the second year in a row, Silver Creek will face North Salinas in the semifinals, as they look for payback this year against the Vikings. Last season, the Vikings beat the Raiders to head to the finals and claim their second straight CCS Division I title. The rematch will take place at Wilcox High School on Wednesday.
