Stanford Head Football Coach David Shaw at the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl Bay Area Football Media Day

Posted July 30, 2013 by in – GSF Weekly was on hand for Bay Area Football Media Day in San Francisco where Stanford head coach David Shaw spoke to Justin Lum about the upcoming football season. This is Shaw’s third year as the Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football and his record is an impressive 23-4. The two-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year (2011, 2012) led the Cardinal to a Pac-12 title and Rose Bowl win in 2012, the first time in 40 years. Coach Shaw actually played wide receiver for Stanford from 1991-1994, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.

Justin Lum is a home grown reporter from the Bay Area who is a sports fanatic. He played quarterback for City College of San Francisco in 2010 when they won the NorCal championship. He always knew he wanted to work in television and transferred to San Francisco State University for their renowned broadcasting program.Justin is definitely a versatile journalist with his background in news due to interning at NBC Bay Area. While juggling school and work, he would come into the station at 3 in the morning twice a week to shadow reporters who became his mentors. Justin is also very involved with his community in the East Bay. He works with the San Leandro Boys & Girls Club, mentoring the youth while coaching sports and fitness. When he does have time off, he enjoys working out, playing football, and spending time with family and friends.
