Stanford Cardinal & White Spring Game 2014

GetSportsFocus.com – The White defense was impressive in a 47-23 win over the Cardinal offense in Stanford’s annual Cardinal & White spring game. David Shaw’s team showed that the transition has been smooth after losing defensive coordinator Derek Mason who is now Vanderbilt’s head coach. New defensive coordinator Lance Anderson directed the White team to a 30-3 lead by halftime.
Four new starters on the offensive line and an unknown at the starting running back position leave questions leading up to the 2014 season. Last season’s offense rushed for a total of 2,904 yards with Tyler Gaffney accounting for 1,709 yards on the ground, 58 percent of the rushing production. The competition between Ricky Seale, Kelsey Young, Remound Wright, and Barry Sanders is still in play.
Coach Shaw must determine who will replace 11 combined starters on offense and defense but depth seems to be an asset at The Farm. The much heralded 2012 recruiting class will be expected to make an impact in 2014. Stanford will face a difficult schedule with Pac-12 road trips at Arizona State, Oregon, UCLA, and Washington this season.
