Week 4 GSF/MITT NorCal Super Linemen of the Week
#57 Chad Tasi – OL/DL De La Salle

by: Madyson Montoya
De La Salle’s Chad Tasi has been named GSF week 4 MITT NORCAL Super Lineman of the Week. Coming off a phenomenal win against Folsom last week, the award was much deserved. Tasi’s passion for the game started at a young age as football has been in his family for generations. The lineman prides himself on being a hard worker and being dominant on the field. The junior is accustomed to the high standards of De La Salle football as his offseason consists of conditioning and lifting for three hours everyday. Tasi believes that is the lineman’s job to own the game, being responsible for protecting the quarterback and giving the runners the best opportunity possible. Tasi does admit that he struggles with taking a leader role, but is working towards being that go-to-person for his team. Coming into such a successful program is quite intimidating, but when Tasi was a freshman, he had his older cousins Boss and Beaux Tagaloa to look up to. If there is one word to describe Tasi, it would be humble. He said, “This award was an eye opener to me, showed how much hard work and dedication I’ve been putting in to get to the player I am right now.” The lineman does credit his success to his coaches. In the future, Tasi would love to play college ball and is working towards that dream everyday. Although he doesn’t have any college offers right now, he is waiting for his time to come and knows that if he continues to play to his full potential and stay humble, recruiters will eventually notice him.

Week 3 GSF/MITT NorCal Super Linemen of the Week
#72 Ken Erlan – OL/DL Gunn
The Titans are off to a 2-0 start and rushed for 353 yards (297 in the first half) against James Lick last Friday. Erlan, a junior, is one of the developing beasts on Gunn’s line and had a lot to do with the dominant first half of the game against the Comets. The Titan’s next opponent: Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors tonight at home, kick off time 7pm.

Week 2 GSF/MITT NorCal Super Linemen of the Week:
#23 Ian Ramese Tupulua – OL/DL Riordan
Senior Ian Ramese Tupulua was instrumental in the Riordan Crusaders’ season opening win on the road against Terra Nova. For the first time since 2015, ARHS won its first game of the season in dramatic fashion 26-24.
Tupulua helped the offense rush for 300+ yards and made 5 total tackles including 4 sacks on defense.
Riordan travels up to Tamalpais for a Saturday afternoon showdown, kickoff is at 2pm.

Week 1 GSF/MITT NorCal Super Linemen of the Week:
#74 Samiuela Fonongola – OL/DL Pittsburg
Senior Samiuela Fonongola was dominant from both sides of the ball in the Pittsburg Pirates’ season opener against a very solid squad in St. Mary’s of Stockton. Fonongola led the offensive line in protecting their passer who threw 5 touchdowns in the Pirates’ 42-35 win over the Rams. Pittsburg is looking to continue their dominance this Saturday on the road against one of the best programs in NorCal, the Serra Padres.
