CCS Open Division Semifinals – Serra Padres vs Bellarmine Bells – GetSportsFocus Football 2013

Posted December 6, 2013 by in – The Serra Padres defense took over in the second half of the CCS Semifinals game against Bellarmine to advance in the championship round. RB Kava Cassidy and QB Matthew Fa’aita took turns pounding the ball inside and out to shut down the Bellarmine offense.
Bellarmine was actually ahead at half time 17-14 and was dominant on the offensive side of the ball. Serra got their two TDs on big plays capitalizing on the Bells turnovers.
In the first meeting between the two, defense and turn overs played a major role Serra’s front defensive unit pressured Bellarmine QB KJ Carta-Samuels every time he dropped back to pass forcing the SEC bound QB to throw from his heels. Padres junior DB Kalepi Lataimua came up with two huge interceptions that ended the Bells’ go ahead drives.
With Mitty winning decisively against a banged up Valley Christian team, and Serra looking as health as ever, this CCS Open Division match up is shaping up to be the biggest game these two schools has ever played in years.
