What a better way to start off the 2015 football season than with a shutout win. That’s just what the Pittsburg Pirates did on Friday night as they defeated the California Grizzlies 28-0.
The first half was messy for both teams as penalties and turnovers were the theme. A punt deflection by Pittsburg’s Charles Ramirez led to the first score of the game, as running back Mason Collins recovered the ball and ran it in for the TD. Ramirez would add four tackles for loss along with the punt deflection, which would earn him the Playmaker of the game. The biggest news coming out of the first half was the injury to 4-star recruit Jordan Parker during a kickoff return, he would not reenter the game.
Pittsburg would score three more touchdowns in the third quarter. Including a 19-yard touchdown by Isaiah Turner, following a fumble recovery by Armando Camacho. Turner would finish off the game with 16 carries for 124 yards making him the MVP of the game.
Pittsburg will look to add to their win column next week at San Ramon Valley.
