NCS Semifinals – De La Salle = Domination, the Spartans slowed down the high powered offense of Deer Valley
GetSportsFocus.com – Deer Valley came out swinging in the first quarter against the Spartans with Nsimba Webster taking the first snap 80 yards to the house evening up the score at 7-7. Wolverines capitalized on a DLS fumble and led the Spartans 14-7 early in the game. But it only took two plays for the home team to get right back up and never looked back. DLS defense stood strong the rest of the way. The Spartans defense led by Summer Houston, Boss Tagaloa, Larry Ross and Devin Asiasi took down Webster 7 times. QB Chris Williams only threw the ball three times, one being a 51 yard TD to Sam Phillips in the fourth that really put the game out of reach. DLS playmakers John Velasco and Antoine Custer each had two TDs. Williams also ran a couple of TDs in the first half as well. Custer had the play of the game when he took a Wolverine punt 54 yards for a TD. Custer, a sophomore is eluded multiple tacklers en route to the end zone. Nsimba Webster threw two TDs and ran two himself, not a bad way to end your high school career. De La Salle wins 57-27.
