It started to look like Mitty would have a repeat win over Riordan as they have done the last seven years. That is until Riordan safety, Daniel Norman, made a game changing play. In the third quarter, as Mitty was looking to take a two score lead, QB Sam Serra fumbled and Norman took advantage with an 87-yard scoop and score.
The Crusaders had multiple players making plays for their team. Running back Raymone Sanders had 105 rushing yards and a touchdown. His 79-yard sprint down the sideline got his teammates going and would set up his own one yard touchdown to take a 21-14 lead. Quarterback Jacky Luavasa completed 11/16 for 122-yards, and Joshua Boone made a statement at wide receiver, running back, and quarterback. His two touchdowns, one for 71-yards and other for 29-yards sealed the victory for Riordan.
Archbishop Mitty looks to get back in the win column as they face (4-0, 1-0) Bellarmine Friday night. Archbishop Riordan faces (2-2, 0-1) Serra as they look to continue to play their best football in recent memory.
