Chaminade Boys Basketball wins first CIF State Championship

Posted April 1, 2014 by in – It was a great weekend for the Eagles of Chaminade as both the boys and the girls teams won the CIF State Championship for the first time in school history.  Chaminade’s junior star Michael Oguine catapulted the Eagles in the first half by scoring 20 points.  Oguine was unstoppable to the hoop and finished with game-high 26 points.

Sir Francis Drake Jesse Hunt led the Pirates with 16 points but 12 of those points were from the line.  Hunt also grabbed 13 rebounds for the Pirates.

Chaminade had a 10 point lead at intermission and kept their distance for the remainder of the game.  The Eagles pulled away early in the third quarter with a 10-0 run.  Sir Francis Drake closed in late in the fourth 54-42  but Chaminade answered quick with back-to-back three pointers by Jake Porath and Danny Holcolmb.  Final score 71-51 Chaminade.
