DLS Spartans defense holds SRV to season-low 31 points – GSF Boys Basketball 2014

Posted January 22, 2014 by in – Coming into an EBAL matchup against division rival San Ramon Valley (14-3, 3-2 EBAL) after losing to Long Beach Poly in overtime just the day before, two days after falling short 41-38 at undefeated Monte Vista, fighting back was all the De La Salle Spartans could do.

The Spartans (11-5, 4-1 EBAL) won a defensive game 36-31 against a Wolves offense that was averaging 70 points in league play. The 31 points was SRV’s lowest total this season so far. Sophomore Nikhil Peters had a team-high 14 points while big man Patrick Marr scored 8 points in the game. Physical man-on-man defense held Wolves guard Jerry Karczewski in check after the senior made 8 3-pointers against Foothill in SRV’s last win. The Wolves scored only 4 points in the second quarter, going into halftime down 20-15.

DLS Head coach Frank Allocco’s program has now won six-straight against San Ramon Valley High School. The Spartans will host Livermore next while SRV goes on the road to Amador Valley.
