The De Le Salle Spartans put on a show Friday night at Owen Owens field when they took on the St. Francis Lancers. It was a game that De Le Salle won in the trenches and by their gritty defense. And oh yeah someone named Kairee Robinson helped out a little too with two touchdowns of his own along with 141 rushing yards.
Defensive lineman Michael Puckett helped out by scooping up a Lancer fumble and taking it to the house for an easy 6.
The Spartans held St. Francis to 7 in the first half but the Lancers kept shooting themselves in the foot with two back to back fumbles in two straight possessions which DLS capitalized on.
In the second half the Lancers were getting fatigued and outworked on the field.
The Spartans cruised in the second half with their workhorse of a player in Kairee taking most of the carries and their ground and pound style of play. The Spartans looked and played like the better team in this game. Final score DLS 31, SFHS 7.
