EBAL Showdown – De La Salle / Monte Vista LaCrosse

Posted April 13, 2013 by in – League rivals De La Salle and Monte Vista squared off under the lights in Danville. Monte Vista jumped to a 2-0 lead early in the game when Chad Housley scored the Mustans second goal.
De La Salle did tie the game but MV scored three consecutive goals making it 5-2 after Andrew Simor’s goal just before the first quarter ended.
De La Salle came back in the second on a couple of fast breaks. Doug Strazza passed the ball to Stephen Wilm’s on the move and the goal tied it up at 5-5. Just before the half, Strazza came storming back coast to coast once again and got the ball to Bailey for the breaker, 6-5 Spartans lead at the half.
Third quarter started off with Monte Vista playing aggressive but the possession was ended with Alec Bruce’s save. Bruce had 12 saves in the game.
De La Salle would take the momentum back after Jack McCormick’s goal seconds after Bruce’s save. The Spartans would extend the lead to four, 10-6 early in the fourth after Keane scored.
Monte Vista fought back and got to with in a point with seconds left. Housley made two goals late in the fourth to put the Mustangs with in one but DLS defense held strong in the end to win the game.
Wilm lead all scorers with 4 for De La Salle. 12-11 was the final in favor of the Spartans.
