Game of the Week | Pittsburg Pirates vs Freedom Falcons

Field general Justin Boyd threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter and kept his team in a position to beat their undefeated foe Freedom. The junior QB kept the Falcons’ defense in check with his dual threat playmaking capability allowing his two running backs Primo Murphy and sophomore standout Darrion Bartley to score three touchdowns in the second half. Boyd took home the GSF KT Prep MVP award along with a $15 gift certificate from Ike’s Love and Sandwiches.
Freedom came out with some magic in the third recovering a hard kicked ball that bounced off a Pirates’ return men in midfield followed by a 50-yard connection between QB Joey Aguilar and WR Michael Ealy. Aguilar had a pretty good game completing 16 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns.
The play of the game happened late in the third when OLB Josiah Porter stepped the ball off Freedom’s running back and took it back for the go-ahead touchdown that made it 33-26, the sixth lead change of the game. Porter, for his game-changing play was awarded the GSF First Place Inc’s Winners plaque.
Senior RB Primo Murphy was awarded the KT Prep Playmaker award for making plays on offense and defense. Murphy had a touchdown and ran in three two point conversion plays for the Pirates.
