Game of the Week | Saint Francis Lancers vs Palma Chieftains

Posted September 2, 2017 by in

The Saint Francis Lancers dominated their home opener against the visiting Chieftains of Palma 40-6. It would’ve been another shut out for the Lancers but Palma managed to score a TD with 3 seconds left in the game.
Junior standout RB Darrell Page out did his game one performance with three touchdowns. And thanks to his full back and two way starter Opeti Fangupo aka “Hammer Head”, Page racked up 142 yards in the first half alone. Fangupo was shirted as the KT Prep Playmaker for consistently making his blocks, picking up first downs on crucial short yardage situations and playing defense where he had an early tackle for a loss that led to a punt.
Defense is the real strength of the Lancers with national recruits making plays and the scary thing is, they’re young. Defensive Tackle Tyler Manoa who is a 3-Star athlete is one of the few starting seniors.
The Lancers have nationally ranked #10 De La Salle next on their schedule and our prediction is that it’s going to be a pretty close game perhaps similar to the 2012 match up between the Bellarmine Bells and the Spartans that ended in double overtime in favor of DLS.
