Horizon Christian won the CIF D5 State Title over St. Joseph Notre Dame in dramatic fashion
GetSportsFocus.com – Perhaps the best finish of the 2013 CIF State Championship weekend and definitely one of the best comeback victories in recent years, Horizon Christian pulled off the impossible. Trailing by 7 with less than 40 seconds left, The Panthers took full advantage of St. Joe’s missed free throws turning each opportunity into points. Sophomore Ethan Underwood made two clutch threes the first one to get Horizon with in 3 and the second one to win the game. Horizon was destined to win the game as St. Joe’s played as if they were supposed to loose. All four of the Panther’s final baskets went uncontested. Horizon was behind most of the game and trailed by as much as 11 points but they kept closing the gap to four points up until the last two minutes of the game. The Panthers beat the Pilots 47-46. Temidayo Yussuf had game high 20 points, 19 rebounds a new CIF D5 record. Darren Carrington had 17 points for Horizon.
