The CCS softball D-1 title game had the story line of a Disney movie. Carlmont head coach Jim Liggett was seeking his 1,010th win and his 9th CCS section title in the final game of his 41-year coaching career at Carlmont. Unfortunately for Liggett and the Scots, despite a 5-1 lead in the second inning, this game wouldn’t have the Hollywood ending they imagined. Instead, San Benito bounced back to win its 10th CCS title in the last 11 years. The Haybalers, behind the dominating play of a couple senior captains, showed their poise by outscoring Carlmont 10-1 the rest of the game for a thrilling comeback victory at PAL Stadium in San Jose.
