Another week down in the NFL and the elite are starting to show their true colors. Obviously with the risk of injuries, anything can happen from here til February. Just ask the Cowboys. But I digress.
If you read my blog on Thursday you saw that I made a bold prediction when I picked the Raiders to beat the Browns… I’m happy to report I was correct. The Raiders are starting to show that their team is on the rise under Del Rio. Now, I think if Johnny Football played, we would’ve had a much different contest. However, Derek Carr shined against a tough Browns defense. This is the start of good things.
I was also correct with my pick of the Cardinals over the 49ers. This was no surprise. The Cardinals are the class of the NFC without a doubt. They are clicking on both sides of the ball and Arians has his team heading back to the playoffs. The Niners are on a bad spiral downward. They need to take a long look at a player we here at GSF love to feature, Jared Goff. Kaepernick is no longer the answer (never was).
I have to give love to the Patriots. That team is good. They are just embarrassing teams when they play them. While the defense is doing the job now, I worry about them down the stretch against the better offensive teams. Offensively, Brady and company cannot be stopped. Might be Arizona vs New England.
With the good comes the bad, and there is a lot of bad in the league. What’s wrong with the Colts and Ravens? Despite a last minute win over the Titans, the Colts look overall like a very mediocre team. The Ravens were my pick to win the division, yet they sit at 0-3. Defense is definitely to blame for both of these disaster seasons. Three weeks in, and both teams are in must win modes.
Packers and the Chiefs play tonight and I’m sticking with my pick for the game. I think the Chiefs defense will pressure Rodgers and cause issues for that offense. Davante Adams should play, but with him and Cobb still hobbled, this will be hard on them.
Stay tuned for my picks to come again Thursday and enjoy the Monday night game. Don’t forget, if you want to join the conversation, contact me on Twitter: @DDorseyGSF
