GetSportsFocus.com – On Thursday night, over 4,000 San Jose Earthquakes fans came together at the San Pedro Plaza in downtown San Jose to witness the unveiling of the new Quakes logo and 2014 jerseys. There were plenty of activities for fans of all ages, but most importantly, it way for the community to gather and rally for the upcoming 2014 season.

The Quakes franchise brought back the past back from 1974, all the way to the present day with different guest speakers and previous well-known Earthquake players. One of those players was Troy Dayak (1996-1998, 2001-2005), who was inducted into the Earthquakes Hall of Fame in 2011. Dayak was welcomed with loud cheers and excitement from the crowd as he addressed his fondest memories while playing for the Earthquakes (Clash). He also brought a sign he kept from a fan that read, “We Believe” – after the Quakes defeated their rival, the LA Galaxy, scoring 5 unanswered goals in one half to win. Along with former players, the Earthquakes featured current players to show off the new uniforms.

Before presenting the uniforms, a video appeared on the side of the SunWize building – connecting and explaining the exact reasons behind the new logo. Following the unveiling of the new logo, players emerged form behind the stage with the new 2014 uniforms with two separate kits (blue and red). Current players took the stage to show off the new jerseys and kicked signed soccer balls into the air for a few lucky fans to take home.

Angela Santoro caught up with forward, Alan Gordon, about the new logo and uniforms – as well as what fans can expect for the upcoming 2014 season. Also, Gordon had something special to say for the Quakes fans.

Angela also talked to Troy Dayak about being a part of the Earthquakes franchise – he showed off his fantastic and personalized cowboy hat, and being a MLS champion himself – he spoke about the 2014 Earthquakes.
