San Jose, CA | March 29–30, 2025
In an era where likes and highlight reels often carry more weight than verified results and character, GSF reminded the football world what truly matters — grit, heart, and growth.
At Top Dawg XII, hosted at Oak Grove High School in San Jose, over 50 student-athletes stepped onto the field not just to be seen — but to compete, challenge, and elevate. Across two days packed with certified testing, coaching from mentors, and 1v1 matchups, TD12 became more than a camp. It became a rite of passage.
🌧️ Weathering the Storm — Literally and Figuratively
The forecast called for rain. But just like many of the athletes in attendance, the clouds held their ground, and the sun eventually made an appearance. The weather mimicked the vibe — unpredictable, hopeful, and filled with moments of brilliance.
The atmosphere stayed cool and partly cloudy throughout most of Sunday, creating the ideal setting for focus and competition. No one complained. No one sat still. There were no shortcuts, and everyone came to work.
🧪 Day 1: Certified Testing That Actually Meant Something
Saturday was all about the numbers. But unlike your average camp where stopwatches and measuring tapes can vary, TD12 testing was independently certified by Coach Andrew DeLa Cruz (XIOS Fitness) and Coach Marcus Romo (OVERTIME Performance) — two performance coaches who train high school, college, and professional athletes.
Coach Romo, known for his technical approach to speed and agility, ensured every movement was sharp and verified.
Coach Andrew, the current Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Bay Area Panthers (IFL), brought an eye for power, form, and game-readiness.
Every rep, every shuttle split, every medicine ball toss was recorded and tracked — giving trusted data. And it wasn’t just the underclassmen who showed up.
🎓 Seniors Still Setting the Bar: Boles & Quintero
Two 2024 GSF Senior All-Star Football Athletes, Salomon Quintero and Matthew Boles, both from Christopher High, attended Day 1 strictly for testing. Invited by Coach Andrew, they used the opportunity to update their recruiting numbers — and didn’t disappoint.
Quintero, a defensive back with game experience and confidence, clocked a 4.68 40-yard dash, 4.5 shuttle, 34” vertical, and 9’ broad jump — easily placing him among the elite athletes in camp.
Boles, a crisp route-runner and reliable target, clocked 4.72 in the 40 and impressed with a 10’ med ball toss and 8’9” broad jump.
Though they didn’t return for Day 2, both made it clear that they’re still in the mix and ready for the next level.
💥 Day 2: From Testing to Takeover
Sunday flipped the switch. The tone shifted from evaluation to execution. Coaches took over each position group and ignited the fire in each athlete.
Coach Sal Romero led the camp as Head Coach
Coach Sione Umufuke dialed up intensity on the Defensive Line
Coach Neil Duffy handled trench work with the OL group
Coach Dante Funtila, a former GSF All-Star head coach, mentored defensive skill and QBs
Coach Newstein Alvarez ran the largest group — Defensive Backs
The energy built as the camp moved from individuals to 1v1 battles and wrapped with a 7v7-style team segment.
🌟 The Dawgs Who Rose
What makes Top Dawg Camp special is its focus on more than talent. Character, resilience, leadership, and consistency matter just as much as a fast 40. And over the weekend, several athletes proved they were more than their class year or position label.
🐾 Seth Evans (Moreau Catholic, 2026) – The Top Dawg
When the dust settled, the Top Dawg Award went to Seth Evans — a 2024 CIF State Champion who tested like a track star and competed like a warrior.
40-Yard Dash: 4.615 (fastest of all rising seniors)
20LB Med Ball Toss: 11 yards
Shuttle: 4.35
Tackles (2024): 133 total | 71 solo
Turnovers: 6 FF, 4 FR, 2 INT
Blocked PATs: 4
GPA: 3.0
Seth was dominant in every phase — from combine numbers to 1v1 reps to leadership presence. He was voted into the All-Camp Team as a DB, proving he can do it all.
“I’m not chasing offers. I simply want to be dedicated to a university that’s dedicated to me,” said Evans — a quote that stuck with every coach on site.
👀 Raw Talent, Fresh Faces, and Future Stars
Jaeden Harris (Valley Christian, 2027 WR) stole the show on Day 2 and was named Best Offensive Player. He made highlight-reel catches, showed off elite size and speed, and closed camp with an interception during 7v7. At 6’1”, 197 lbs with a 4.0 GPA, he’s the full package.
Alexavier Rivera (Piedmont Hills, 2026 DB) was named Best Defensive Player after showcasing his ability to play both CB and safety. A returning GSF 7v7 athlete, he racked up 59 tackles and 7 PBUs in 2024 for an undefeated in league Piedmont Hills squad.
Nico Quetania (Piedmont Hills, 2026 OL) was voted Big Dawg (Best Lineman). His testing was solid, but it was in drills and 1v1s where he bullied the competition.
Colton Pierce (Freedom, 2028 OLB/DE): Voted into the All-Camp Team. On track to be a GSF Senior All-Star. High motor, dominant edge rusher.
Ja’Ron Price (Moreau Catholic, 2027 TE/OLB): 6’2″, 187 lbs, 3.91 GPA. Track medalist. State champ. Student of the Month. Can play anywhere.
Alijah Torres (Piedmont Hills, 2026 RB/DB): Fastest 3-Cone (7.64). Tough competitor. All-Camp RB.
Santino DeSantiago (Live Oak, 2027 OL/DL): Moved to varsity as a freshman, 2024 BVAL Honorable Mention. Solid in every phase.
Maximo Arce (Monte Vista Christian, 2026 QB): Checks every box. Big arm, physical frame, dual-threat potential.
Kaden Hill (Bellarmine, 2027 QB): Accurate, polished, and calm under pressure. Voted into All-Camp Team.
