Class of 2023 Tayden Phillips, a high potential athlete who plays QB and free safety for the Lincoln Lions of San Jose scored four more touchdowns against Piedmont Hills and upgraded his totals to 7 rushing and 6 passing touchdowns.

The 3-2 Pirates and the 3-2 Lions squared off for a Thursday night showdown but the only team that showed up to play was the home team, Lincoln. Piedmont Hills couldn’t get anything going at all and when they did, they managed to shoot themselves in the foot with bad snaps and penalties. Lincoln on the other hand wanted to score on every play and their effort showed exactly that.

Phillips finished his MVP performance by completing 8 passes for 128 yards including a 56-yard first-quarter TD to Jose Orendain that gave the Lions a 14-0 early lead. Phillips dominated the offense after that with 162 yards and four rushing TDs on six keepers. Fellow junior Sal Espinoza contributed 167 more yards and a long 45-yard touchdown run in the second quarter that shut the door on the Pirates. It was 33-0 at halftime.

Lincoln’s defensive lineman Jacob Willman dominated the line play with 11 total tackles earning himself the GSF Week #7 Defensive Lineman of the Week award. Phillips took home the MVP while Espinoza was awarded the Playmaker shirt. All three athletes received free IKE’s Love and Sandwiches. Final score 47-0 Lincoln.
