“Finally got one…”

We refer to him as the “South Bay’s Best Kept Secret” because he’s such a great coach that deserves great respect. “Finally got one…”

We refer to him as the South Bay’s Best Kept Secret because he’s such a great coach that deserves great respect. Coach Dante Funtila led the GSF 5-Star 7v7 team to its first championship since the inception of the GSF 7v7 Tournament Series back in 2017. Since day one, he’s been the head coach for GSF and is a considerable proponent of player development.

Coach Dante and defensive coordinator Coach Sean Thomas have an old-school approach to the game. They preach discipline, hard work, and accountability. The team is not flashy or loud. They’re pretty even keel, which matches their all-black attire with the classic gold-colored emblems. They mean business with a mindset of never losing because there will always be lessons to learn, victory or not.

Five Valuable Tips On How To Get Recruited

Over 10 years of covering high school sports here in the Bay Area is enough to put us in a position to give advice about recruiting.

Assuming you have the potential to actually play at the next level, here are some valuable advice that can help you get recruited.

First and foremost, concentrate on your academics. Go to class. Do the work. Study and you’d be surprised by how well you’ll do on the field as well. Most star athletes have star quality grades.

Read, watch videos and get to know the schools and programs you want to go to first. Then do the same for the schools who are interested in you. Make contact with the coaches of the schools and always communicate.

Working hard is one thing, working extra to get over the competition is another. Train yourself across the board to be able to handle the next level mentally, physically, emotionally, academically and habitually.

Committing and executing the first three advice will give you more than enough to market yourself. Use social media and ALL resources available to get yourself out there.

Do not sign up or pay anyone to help you do something you can do yourself when it comes to recruiting. It’s a waste of money and it does not work.
