QB Alex Grado threw three interceptions in the first quarter against the Wilcox Chargers, one of which was a pick-6 to Rashaun Bowden. The Chargers scored 19 unanswered points until a turnover on downs just before halftime allowed Grado and the Los Gatos Wildcats to drive down the field and score. He orchestrated a six-play, ninety-yard touchdown drive to cut the deficit down 19-7 at intermission. Wilcox had the opportunity to put the game out of reach, but an interception in the endzone by Los Gatos’ Quinn Merritt on a half-back pass from Chargers’ RB Luther Glenn swung the momentum back in favor of the visiting team. Grado ended up leading his team to another scoring drive, this time a 9-play, 80-yard drive to close in on the lead 19-14. Los Gatos got the ball back in the fourth quarter with 3:44 left to play, and that’s when Grado completed the comeback with a 6-play, 76-yard scoring drive capped off by a pass to Kyle Pinkham across the middle for a touchdown that made it 20-19. Wilcox had plenty of time to drive downfield to set up a field goal, but a great defensive stand by Los Gatos led by captain Sean McGuire kept the Chargers from scoring. Ty Goldsbury, the kicker who also played safety, intercepted the ball with less than 50 seconds left to seal the Los Gatos victory. Final score: Los Gatos 20, Wilcox 19
