Sacred Heart Cathedral hosted the No. 1 team in NorCal, the Serra Padres at Kezar Stadium Friday night. Serra dominated in all facets of the game. Just about every player got on the field to play. QB Maealiuaki Smith, a 3-star national recruit with 20+ offers threw two touchdown passes and also ran one in just before the half. Junior Nano Latu, scored twice for the Padres.
What’s even more impressive was that Serra’s 2nd and 3rd teamers aka “Bottom of the Fire” held off the Fightin’ Irish from scoring and put up three TDs in the second half, two of which were scored in the fourth following a turnover.
SHC will travel down 280 this Friday to take on Mitty at Foothill College. Serra will be back at home against St. Francis for a Saturday afternoon showdown in San Mateo.
