“Mission Accomplished” for the seniors at Serra High after a 34-3 beat down of league rival St. Ignatius. The Wildcats started off strong on defense with back-to-back tackle for a loss and a three and out on their first defensive series. But Serra responded with some solid defensive plays of their own, including the first of many turnovers. Senior Max Goligoski sniffed a pass and grabbed it like a freshly baked loaf of sweet bread for dinner. But it was SI who would score early on a field goal midway through the first quarter. Serra responded with a seven-play, 71-yard touchdown drive that put the Padres ahead just before the break. The second half started off with Serra’s QB Dominique Lampkin orchestrating a five-play, 80-yard touchdown drive to extend the Padres lead, 14-3. On the ensuing kick-off, senior Trace LaMar, the backup QB on special teams, stripped the ball loose, leading to 21 more unanswered points. The Wildcats turned the ball over 7 different times, but perhaps the best one was Fynn Williams’ 4th quarter pick-6 that put a bow on a perfect season. A perfect gift for Coach Patrick Walsh’s 20th season as the Padres’ head football coach. Lampkin was the chosen MVP for the game by the GSF Unlimited staff. He had 4 total touchdowns, three passing and one rush.
