The Serra Padre defense has put on quite a show these past few games averaging 4 takeaways per game. Led by three-year varsity starters and seniors Andrew Stewart and Malakai Hoeft, the defense have only allowed 35 points all season mostly by their backups. Offensively, Serra has outscored their opponents 205 to 35 with 4-Star WR Hassan “The Missil3” Mahasin scoring 60 of those points. Unfortunately, “The Missil3” will miss the remainder of the season due to an ACL tear. But the Padres are stacked in all areas so keep calm because they have a buffet of weapons at their disposal.

Head football coach Patrick Walsh seemed to changed a few of his coaching staffs’ on-field personnel by allowing some of his inexperienced athletes to play in the game against Riordan more than usual. This move was a definite indication that the Padres are looking ahead to Valley Christian and St. Francis, the only two teams that are really in the way of winning the WCAL title.

The only two undefeated teams left in the WCAL are the Padres and the Lancers after this weekend. Valley Christian failed to answer the call when St. Francis came knocking. The Warriors were physically beaten on the line by the Lancer’s dominant squad. Next Friday night will be another test for the Warriors but the odds are on the Padres’ favor since they’ve beaten Valley Christian three times since the 2019 season. The only difference between the two teams is that the Warriors are battle-tested having gone against Pittsburg, Wilcox, and St. Francis.

The two questions that need to be answered are: 1. Are the Warriors mentally and physically ready for what could be their toughest opponent yet? Or 2. Will the Padres find themselves unprepared for a team who’s hungry for a major win. I guess we’ll find out Friday by 10pm.
