WCAL | Serra Padres vs Sacred Heart Cathedral Fightin’ Irish

The Serra Padres took a trip up to San Francisco’s historic Kezar Stadium for a match-up against the Sacred Heart Cathedral Fightin’ Irish. Senior QB Dominique Lampkin had a spectacular night scoring two touchdowns on the ground. He also threw a 45-yard bomb to fellow senior Sione Laulea to open up the second quarter.

Sacred Heart Cathedral did what they could with what they have but the Padres were much more well equipt especially on defense. It took every ounce of talent for the Fightin’ Irish to even score a TD with QB Ray John-Spears hitting his playmaker RL Miller under extreme duress. Serra retaliated on their next drive with a 45-yard power run by Petelo GI followed by another TD by Lampkin to star the 4th quarter.

Serra’s defense is the strength of this 2021 team and their offense is starting to catch up. Despite SH’s strategy of slowing down the game with their offense, the defense played fast and physical and never let up, something they need to do next week against their last regular-season opponent the St. Francis Lancers.
