Valley Christian came to Mitty with one thing in mind and that is to get back in the win column. The Warriors had an interesting week with most of their players absent for practice due to Covid restrictions. But that situation fueled the Warriors to get it together and dominate Saturday afternoon. Jurrion Dickey, VC’s 4-star WR put on a show with his QB Jakson Berman. Dickey made some spectacular grabs and scored twice. His pick-6 in the second was a game-changer that put the Warriors up for good. Berman was the extra coach on the field who led his squad on offense and defense to execute.
Mitty moved the ball well but when it came down to big plays, the Warriors secondary shut them down. The Monarchs did manage to score three passing TDs two of which came from backup QB Ty Yoshida who took over for Wills Towers mid-third quarter. Dominic Boccabella, Mitty’s go-to player became unavailable mid-third as well due to a nagging foot injury. The one thing that you can always count on Coach Danny Sullivan’s squad is that they will fight to the end. Final score, VC 42, Mitty 20.
The Warriors will take on Bellarmine for Senior Night Friday while Mitty travels up to Mtn. View to face the St. Francis Lancers. Unfortunately for the Monarchs, Friday is also Senior Night and Homecoming for the Lancers so the atmosphere will be hostile in front of the Rage Cage.
