‼️Game of the Week‼️ Wilcox Chargers vs Hollister

There’s a new “playmaker” at Wilcox, and his name is Maulidi Saleh.

The Chargers hosted San Benito last Thursday, and it was the GSF Game of the Week. Saleh electrified the crowd with a 70-yard punt return for a TD shortly after catching a 55-yard TD from senior QB Armand Johnson. Saleh is only a junior, and his presence reminded us of former Charger Luther Glenn, “the best RB in NorCal,” as our producer would say. Even though Glenn graduated last year, Wilcox reloaded with his spot with Maulidi Saleh, and he should be entertaining to watch in the next couple of years.

Wilcox’s defense is what stood out the most, however. Led by junior standout and captain Jeramiah Lewis, the Chargers looked just about as physical as they have been. Senior OLB Frankie Tagoai is one to watch out for if you are on the opposing team. He can create havoc on the line and in the backfield. He is a fast, quick athlete that can track down a ball runner in space, and he is a hitter.

San Benito had trouble all night advancing the ball on the ground, but they found their way to the endzone twice using short outlet passes. They will take on Valley Christian this Thursday in a must-win game for both, especially the Warriors, who are 0-2.

Wilcox will look to dominate Leland this Friday on the road at Pat Tillman stadium. It should be another 4+ TD game for Johnson and his boys, and defensively, expect a lot of partying in the backfield for the Chargers.
