2018 GSF 7v7 Open Tournament Results and Highlights

May 6, 2018 | San Jose City College – Team Elevate, a team from Stockton, CA, took home the first ever GSF 7v7 Open Championship plaque by defeating the host team GSF 19-12.

Jahidi West, a junior from Stockton’s Lincoln High School, was awarded the First Place Inc. Defensive MVP Award. West played a major part in helping his team advance to the semifinals against TMP Legacy. With about two minutes left in the game, West picked off a pass in the end zone intended for 3-Star RB Giles Jackson. The interception sealed the 20-12 win by Elevate to advance to the semis versus KT Prep Greatness, who they dominated 28-6.
Freshman QB Michael Chavez took home the First Place Inc. Offensive MVP Award, finishing the tournament with 22 total TD passes. The St. Mary’s Rams future varsity gunslinger was consistently accurate for most of the day.
This was Elevate’s third tournament title in the program’s brief three-year history. Their junior team is headed to Atlanta, GA, for Junior High Nationals. Expect big things to come from the 209 as Head Coach Roy Harwell and his staff Vince Carter, Eric Crocker, and Lupe Harwell continue to put the local talent on the map.
