GSF Freshman & 8th Grade 7v7 Rankings: ERA Leads After Three Tournaments

ERA Rises Above the Competition at Silicon Valley Classic — Freshman QB Tristan Lopez Named MVP

ERA captured one of the toughest 15U, Freshman, and 8th Grade tournament titles in recent years and now sits atop the GSF rankings after three events.

In what has become one of the most competitive 15U, Freshman, and 8th Grade divisions in Northern California, the Silicon Valley Classic once again delivered elite-level football — and this year, it was ERA that stood above the rest.

Led by Head Coach Alexis Ramos and Offensive Coordinator Brian Beltran, ERA battled through a loaded field before defeating crosstown rival GBGB Vegeta in a hard-fought championship matchup. With both teams coming from the same area and familiar with each other’s style, the stakes were even higher, making the victory that much more meaningful.

Battle-Tested Champions

From the opening whistle to the final play, ERA’s championship run was defined by resilience, execution, and belief.

“It was a great team effort by everybody. I told the guys all week to stay locked in. It doesn’t matter what other teams are doing — what we’re doing is what matters. These kids are battle-tested. We tied a game, we won a game on the last play … they just executed.”

ERA faced adversity throughout the tournament, including tight contests that tested their composure. Time and time again, they responded like a seasoned group, proving why they have become one of the premier programs in the region.

Crosstown Rivalry Adds Fuel

The championship matchup against GBGB Vegeta brought an extra layer of intensity.

Two programs from the same area. Mutual respect, but undeniable rivalry.

ERA delivered when it mattered most.

“Cross-town rivals — there’s always a lot of talk going back and forth. But our kids executed. We went out there and scored when we needed to. Defense made plays … it was a complete team win.”

Freshman QB Tristan Lopez Shines as MVP

At the center of ERA’s championship run was Palma High School freshman quarterback Tristan Lopez, who earned Tournament MVP honors with his poise, leadership, and clutch performance.

“There’s no better MVP than our quarterback Tristan.”

Lopez, humble in victory, reflected on the competition and opportunity.

“That’s a really good team. It’s always great competing against someone just as good as you. I thank God for the opportunity, and I thank everyone here — my teammates stayed by my side the whole way.”

His performance not only secured the championship but also established him as one of the top young quarterbacks to watch in Northern California.

More Than Football

“After every tournament, win or lose, thank the people who got you here. We couldn’t do this without our parents and support system.”

That culture of gratitude, discipline, and unity continues to define ERA and separates them from the rest.

How the GSF Rankings Are Determined

The GSF 15U, Freshman, and 8th Grade Division Rankings are based on a weighted performance system across all completed tournaments. Rankings are determined by the following point structure:

  • Pool Play Win = 1 point
  • Playoff Win = 3 points
  • Championship Appearance = 5 points
  • Championship Win = 10 points

A tournament champion earns a total 15-point championship bonus, made up of 5 points for reaching the title game and 10 points for winning it.

When teams are tied, the tiebreakers are applied in this order:

  1. Total ranking points
  2. Point differential
  3. Total points scored

Ranking Outlook

ERA remains the top program in the division thanks to multiple championship-caliber performances and consistent deep runs. Alpha Dawgs made one of the biggest jumps of the season after a dominant Top Gun championship, while CreekBoyz continues to hold strong with one of the best single-tournament performances of the year.

The middle tier remains highly competitive, with programs such as GBGB Vegeta, East County Lions, 209TMP, Activated, and T1 Sports Academy all capable of climbing higher with another strong finish.

Final Word

With three major tournaments now complete, the GSF 15U, Freshman, and 8th Grade division is proving to be one of the deepest and most competitive groups in recent years.

For now, ERA sits at the top. But with several contenders still in striking distance, the race for the No. 1 spot is far from over.
