March 18, 2021 – GSF Weekly Blog
Before we dive into the delayed 2020 football season, we need to talk about the best player in the CCS and perhaps the Bay Area, coming back. We’re talking about Serra High’s junior Hassan Mahasin aka “The Missil3”, with the #3, his original number from his youth football days.
“The Missil3” got plenty of action from the backfield as a sophomore and his playmaking ability was a huge addition to Coach Patrick Walsh’s offense who’s stacked with a handful of senior D-1 national recruits: Daylin McLemore(ASU), Jackson Lataimua(WSU), Nate Azzopardi(Idaho), Terence Loville(SJSU), Christian Pedersen(Louisville). Mahasin racked up over 1,000 all-purpose yards as a running back, slot receiver, and returner to go along with his seven total touchdowns. He played all fifteen games and was utilized all year to make important plays. His biggest run of the year came on a fourth and a long one situation in the CIF D1-A NorCal finals against San Joaquin Memorial early in the fourth quarter. After picking up a first down, Serra scored three short plays later to extend the lead 28-18 and went on to advance to the State game the following week. Mahasin was counted on a few times during the regular season including the St. Francis game where he sealed the game when he picked up the first down on a fourth and long situation that would’ve turned the ball over on downs for the opposing team to have a game-winning drive.
With the start of his junior season being delayed by almost six months, Mahasin took no days off from getting bigger, stronger, and faster despite the pandemic lockdown. According to his coaches, “The Missil3” 3.0 version has been upgraded to a bigger, faster, and stronger model with 20+ pounds of added muscle. Look for Mahasin to set the tone early in this Friday’s season opener on the road against Valley Christian. The kick-off time is at 6:30pm.

Sophomore Season (Fall 2019)
– Mahasin Stats: 15 GP • 7 Total TD • 545 Total YDS
